In the 20th century, antisemitism has signed its name to great disasters, one of the most horrible cruelty and murder by the Nazis to the Jews. In addition, in many countries authoritarian regimes have targeted Jews and subjected to cruel treatment. Fascist organizations have harassed Jews and organized deadly attacks against them.
In our time-Semitism remains an ideology which threatens world peace and the goals the welfare and safety of innocent people.
So, as if regarding Muslim anti-Semitism?
The answer is obvious. Every Muslim must oppose antisemitism as he would oppose any racist ideology, but must resist this ideology of hatred and defend the rights of Jews as he would defend the rights of everyone else. Every Muslim must recognize and defend the rights of the Jews of Israel or the Diaspora to live in peace, religion, to protect their identity and expression.
Today, Muslims condemn the cruel justice policies and aggressive Israel. However, to condemn Israel and criticize its official Zionist ideology has nothing to do with antisemitism. The reason they are opposed to Zionism, because Zionism is racism. For the same reason we oppose anti-Semitism.
Anti-Semitism: The product of Neo Paganism
A fundamental fact which is assessed on anti-Semitism is a pagan belief that any Muslim can marry.
To clarify this concept we must examine the roots of antisemitism. This term is understood as meaning “anti Jewish, but its basic meaning is a” hatred of Semitic peoples. “Semitic peoples are basically made up of Arabs, Jews and some other ethnic groups in the Middle East. There is a great similarity between languages and cultures of the Semites, for example, Arabic and Hebrew are very similar.
The second linguistic and racial group in the world is the Indo-European community of nations. Most European countries today Indo-European roots.
The pagan war god Wotan, one of the symbols of pagan barbarism and intolerance.
All these various civilizations have had their prophets who proclaimed the existence and oneness of God and his commandments become familiar. But when we look at history, we see that the Indo-European peoples from ancient times has always believed in paganism. Viking barbarian Greek and Roman civilizations, the Teutons, and others who live in southern Europe at the time were all polytheistic pagans. For this reason, these communities have remained completely without moral guidance. Violence and savagery were regarded as worthy of praise, homosexuality and adultery were widely practiced. (The most important historical representative of Indo-European civilization was the Roman Empire, and we must not forget that it was a savage society that delighted in seeing people torn apart in the bullring.)
These peoples who ruled Europe encountered monotheism through Jesus Christ, a prophet sent to the Semitic people. Sent as a prophet to the children of Israel, the teaching of Jesus spread throughout Europe over time and all the pagan peoples gradually accepted Christianity before.
But in the 18th and 19th centuries, with the weakening of Christianity and the growth of ideologies and philosophies that promote the rejection of religion, a strange current of thought in Europe, neo-paganism. The leaders of this movement claimed that European societies must reject Christianity and return to ancient pagan beliefs. According to the followers of neo-paganism, the way European societies understood morality in ancient pagan times (for example, a warrior, ruthless, bloodthirsty, barbaric any moral) approved the much higher moral when they accepted ie Christianity (, humble, compassionate, moral, peace-loving and religious).
Nietzshce was an anti-Semite because he empathized with the pagan culture of violence and hatred theistic religions.
One of the most important representatives of this trend is also one of the greatest theorists of Fascism-Friedrich Nietzsche. He hated Christianity, which believed it had destroyed the warrior spirit of the German people, that is, is very essential.
Supporters of neo-Paganism were hostile to Christianity, and at the same time, adopted a great hatred for Judaism which they saw as the origin of Christianity. In fact, they saw Christianity as the diffuser worldwide Jewish ideas and considered as a kind of Jewish plot.
Thus, this neo-paganism, one hand pushed the hostility against religion and, second, gave birth to fascism and antisemitism. Especially when you look at the foundations of Nazi ideology, we can see clearly that Hitler and his brothers were, in fact, pagans.
Nazism: Pagan twentieth century
One of the main roles in the development of Nazi ideology was construed by a thinker by the name of Jorg Lanz von Liebenfels. Lanz fervently believed in the ideas of neo-paganism. It was the first person to find in ancient sources the swastika which later became the symbol of the Nazi party. The Ordo Novi Templi (Order of the New Temple), an organization founded by Lanz, devoted himself totally to the rebirth of paganism. Lanz freely proclaimed that he worshiped Wotan, the imaginary “War God” of the old German town. He thought that the worship of Wotan was the true religion of the German people and that Germans could be saved only by returning to this religion.
Nazi ideology developed in the way prepared by Lanz and other devotees of neo-paganism. One of the most important Nazi ideologues, Alfred Rosenberg, the thought that Christianity can not provide the spiritual strength needed for the new Germany has been established by Hitler, and openly declared that the German people must return to their pagan religion. According to Rosenberg, when the Nazis came to power, religious symbols in churches should be removed and replaced with swastikas, a copy of Hitler’s book Mein Kampf (My Struggle) and swords symbolizing German invincibility. Hitler adopted the views of Rosenberg but, thinking it will make much of a reaction among the people, he did not put this new theory of religion in Germany in force. [1]
Neo-Nazis were pagans who tried to destroy the Judeo-Christian ethics and convert the German pagan barbarism.
However, during the Nazi regime, some important practices of Neo-Paganism has been proposed. Shortly after Hitler came to power, holy days and feasts of Christianity began to be deleted and replaced with the holy days of pagan religions. At weddings, oaths were sworn to such imaginary gods as “Mother Earth” and “Father of Heaven.” In 1935, schoolchildren were forbidden to say Christian prayers and later, classes were interrupted with Christian content completely.
Hitler once revealed his attitude toward Christianity, when he bluntly stated that religion is a:
… Organized lie [] must be destroyed. The State must remain the absolute master. When I was younger, I thought it was needed to destroy religion [...] dynamite. Since then I realized that there is little room for subtlety …. The final state should be … the Chair of St. Peter, a senile officiant, before leaving some old … The young and healthy are on our side … Our people had already made in the good life without religion. I have six divisions of SS absolutely indifferent in matters of religion. Not prevent them from going to death with serenity in their souls. [2]
As you can see, Hitler saw a single idea, which have an essential role in the spiritual realm: the idea that people would go “to death with serenity in their souls.” They find in abundance in the pagan concepts as “German spirit” and “honor in battle.” Sierra of monotheistic religions as beliefs that must be “destroyed with dynamite, but for political reasons, has acted more moderately.
The Nazi hatred for Jews was a part of this anti-theistic ideology. Nazis who hated Christianity seen as a “Jewish conspiracy.” Jesus, a prophet of Israeli origin, should be loved and revered by the Germans who were considered the “master race” was unthinkable for them. For the Nazis, was not a prophet of Israeli origin, which would be a guide to the Germans, but the pagan culture barbarous and cruel warriors German.
So this is the truth about Nazism and antisemitism in general. Today, leaders of various groups of anti-Semitic neo-Nazi and fascist. If we look, we see immediately that each of them has an anti-religious ideology and what they say is based on pagan ideas.
Anti-Semitism and any type of racism is contrary to Islam
The facts we have reviewed so far, the following is clear:
Antisemitism is an anti-religion ideology that has its roots in the neo-paganism. Therefore, it is unthinkable that a Muslim can marry antisemitism or feel sympathy for this ideology. Anti-Semites have no respect for Abraham, Moses and David, who were blessed prophets chosen by God to be examples for humanity.
Anti-Semitism and other forms of racism (such as prejudice against blacks) have no place in true religion, are perversions arising from various ideologies and superstitions.
Moreover, when considering anti-Semitism and other forms of racism, it is clear that promote ideas and a model of society that is totally contrary to the moral teachings of the Koran, for example, anti-Semitism is at the root of hatred, violence and lack compassion. An anti-Semite may be so cruel as to support the murder of Jews, without distinction between women, children and elderly, and justify their being subjected to torture. However, the moral teachings of the Koran requires love, compassion and mercy for all humanity. It also commands Muslims to show justice and forgiveness, even to their enemies.
Moreover, anti-Semitic and racist against Balk other live in peace with people of different race or creed. For example, German racists (Nazis) and Jewish racists (Zionists) were opposed to Germans and Jews living together, each side has rejected this on behalf of their respective careers as a degeneration. However, the Koran, there is the slightest distinction between races, the Qur’an recommends that people of different religions coexist in the same society in peace and happiness.
According to the Quran, Muslims, Jews and Christians should live in friendship
Jews and Christians (called in the Qur’an the “people of the book) are much closer to Muslims than idolaters, pagans (or atheists). The people of the book, since Muslims believe in one God and is subject to its provisions.
In the Qur’an, there is a significant difference between the People of the Book and the idolaters. This is especially prominent in the field of social life. For example, it has been said about the idolaters: “(they) are unclean, so after this year should not come to the Masjid al-Haram.” (Sura Tawba: 28) The idolaters are people who know no divine law, have no moral precepts, and you can make any kind of degrading and perverse action without hesitation.
But the people of the book, while those that depend primarily on the revelation of God has moral precepts and know what is legal and what is not. For this reason, if a person cooks food book, it is permissible for Muslims to eat. Similarly, authorized a Muslim man marries a woman of the people of the book. On this issue the commands of God:
Today all good things have been made lawful for you. And the food of those who received the book and “legal for you and your food is lawful for them. So are chaste women among the believers and chaste women of those given the Book before, once you have given them their dowries in marriage, not in fornication or taking as a lover. But as for the infidels, will not work and he will be among the losers. (Sura Mai’da: 5)
These commands show that family ties may be established after the wedding of a Muslim woman with a book and people on both sides of the union can accept an invitation to a meal. These are the principles that ensure the establishment of equitable human relationships and a happy life together. Since the Koran requires just and tolerant attitude, it is unthinkable that a Muslim can have a dissenting opinion.
Monasteries, churches and synagogues should be respected
the respect they deserve churches: a church. . .
Another important fact to learn the Koran is that Muslims must respect Jewish and Christian places of worship. In the Qur’an, the places of worship of the people of the book, viz. monasteries, churches and synagogues, are mentioned as places of worship protected by God
“… If God had not driven some people back through others, monasteries, churches, synagogues and mosques, where God’s name mentioned much, would be demolished and destroyed. God will certainly help those who help – God is Strong, Mighty. “(Sura: Hajj 40)
This verse shows the importance of all Muslims to respect and protect the sacred places of the people of the book.
. . . and Synagouge.
In fact, the Quran, God commands Muslims not to harbor any enmity towards anyone. In many verses, friendship is recommended even with idolaters. God also refers to the idolaters at war with Muslims like this: “If any of the idolaters seek protection, give them protection until they heard the words of God, then submit them to a place where I’m sure.” (Sura The Tawba: 6)
Jews and Christians, however, are much closer to Muslims than idolaters. Each of these religions has its book, that is, they are subject to a book sent by God knows what is right and wrong, what is legal and illegal. They know they are accountable to God and who love and revere their prophets. This shows that Muslims and people of the book can live easily together.
Conclusion
In a Muslim perspective in the world, one of his basic criteria is justice. No matter who may object, can not depart from justice. Failure to act on their feelings, but with his reason and conscience. Away from the bigotry and intolerance, and makes its decisions based on wisdom.
What God teaches us in the Qur’an about different peoples and religions is clear:
1. The moral of the Qur’an excludes every kind of racism.
2. Y-ordered in the Quran which, while not hostile to Islam or Muslims, a tolerant and friendly attitude must be maintained toward other religions.
It is obvious that the Jews have committed many errors detected by the Koran, and gives a critical warning. The crimes committed by Israel against humanity today are painfully familiar, but this should not be taken by Muslims as a cause to feel hostility against Jews. Crimes committed by a group of Jews in the Zionist ideology loyalty can never be accused of Judaism or the Jewish people.
Our desire is that established a world where people should live together in peace and no matter what race or religion they belong, in which every racist perversion will be rejected, the rights of any person shall be considered and respected all.

In a remarkable study also reliable, Institute for Jewish and Community Research, based in San Francisco, published a book about religion in American textbooks. These textbooks used in schools in the United States, many factual errors and even serious errors were striking religious.

The book is titled, “The problem with textbooks: distorting history and religion”, published by Lexington Books, a division of Rowman and Littlefield, eds. http://www. lexingtonbooks. com / catalog / SingleBook. shtml? command = Search & db = ^ DB / CATALOGUE. db = 0739130935 & eqSKUdata effort five years by the late researcher Gary Tobin, Ph.D. (Former president of the Institute) and Dennis Ybarra, MBA, has been discussed both by email and webcam. Part One: The interview starts Dennis Ybarra said via e-mail: How many books are in the studio? I have a copy of the summary, which is located at www. TroublewithTextbooks. org: I have reviewed the 28 textbooks. So far, I refused to be separated into two subsets of 28 passes, or failing that, for the overall content of each is so “all over the map.” This means that in the four areas we discussed: Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Israel, many are very good in one area and terrible in another. Why say some are “… well in one area and terrible in another?” This is because sections of these areas could be exemplary, while others are huge. Part Two: What research says that the Jewish community and of themselves, an introduction The introduction notes the Executive Summary for the book value “The problem with textbooks the alarm about the textbooks denigrate teach certain groups and historical distortions. Our schools have an obligation to instill young people with American values and provide students with the knowledge necessary for good citizenship. Instead, the textbooks are full of errors and force. “The Research is carried out under the auspices and funding of the Institute for Jewish and Community Research, whose objectives are three panels as “… an independent think tank dedicated to the creation of a Jewish community strong and growing. We, the search of the Jewish community and society in general, use information on the design and development of innovative initiatives, and educate the general public and opinion leaders. ” They explain: (1) “The Institute conducts research on religious investigations of damage.” (2) “The Institute is dedicated to research on megagifts in American philanthropy, giving to higher education, and philosophy of giving. We also specialize in research on Jewish philanthropy, including foundations and motivations for giving to Jewish causes. “(3)” We study the demographics of the Jewish people, seeing how Jewish identity is defined and expressed. It examines issues related to marriage, conversion and racial and ethnic diversity of the Jewish people. ” As for the study of textbooks, the summary says that people of religious faith is the obvious mistake, if you look at the textbooks. Dennis Ybarra The Institute encourages parents to read books of their children, and says that the summary is readable and useful to school boards in the area of San Francisco, USA. Part Three: The interview again. . . then the graph • The name “Palestine” is used freely and innacurately. Before the abolition of the Roman Jewish revolts and the renaming of the earth as punishment for the uprising of the Romans, the land known as Palestine. • “Palestine” refers to the location of Jesus’ ministry, “even if the word is unknown to Christian sources. • Christianity since its founding is described” by a young Palestinian named Jesus. “For religion, whether Christian or Jewish, some background facts are important. Jesus was a Jew. Israell Jesus lived in, or area of the Jewish world that was Judah and Israel. Jesus is the Messiah considered unqualified for Christians, is Biblical and has risen from the dead, not just a tradition or belief. As part of the faith, which is vital for Easter is the most important Christian festival of the year. These, as I said, the points are important: also very important. Responsible Christian religious education and the Jews is that Moses received the Ten Commandments of God this is not a vague or questionable education. It is clearly visible and part of a complex of agreements of believers, not to mention a Bible reader. There are many concerns relevant to the Jewish tradition for appointments today I noted many in the Jerusalem Post to get to the “moral of this article with the words of the researchers. It is moral of the Jewish faith, and valid. Jews have a moral sense valued and respected, so I think it is commonly believed. Christians also find these same concerns with its moral dimension, because after sharing all areas of the two religions many of the teachings of the Old Testament of the Christian Bible. Christians and scholars as well as parents and that classes are all questions and controversies of historical accuracy and moral interest and in fact alone. The textbooks do not meet the devotional practices as they really are. Here is a graph of work:

Looking through this comparative table that detects the language of the beliefs of the three major religions in textbooks selected, the picture shows from right: The name of the textbook and the publisher, religion (as Judiasm, Christianity, Islam). Carefully read the wording and the differences are subtle, but with different nuances. The implication here but mild start to show a pattern, so that the effect of approach to each weighted differently: “history” “proven,” said “/” revelation received, “said” / received revelation from Allah, ” and so on.

Table 5. 1: Comparison of the language used in the beliefs of major religions in three selected books textbook Christianity Islam Judaism World (Part Pearson / Scott Foresman) at a photo of a Seder plate “food on the Seder plate are a symbol of ancient Jewish history. “The pilgrimage, or Hajj (Hajj) to Mecca is an essential part of Islam, the religion revealed to Muhammad ….” World History: Continuity and Change (Holt) Registration Glossary: “Ten Commandments of Moses supported the moral laws that he had received from the Lord Hebrew God on Mount Sinai.” Glossary entry: “Book of the Koran of Islam containing revelations received by Muhammad from God” civilizations of the world: overall experience (Pearson) Recording Glossary: Jesus of Nazareth, “he said in part,” prophet and teacher, among the Jews, Christians believed that the Messiah …. “Glossary item:” Muhammad, the prophet of Islam …, received revelations from God in 610 CE and then ,…. “Modern World History: Patterns of Interaction. They postulate that Israeli Jews are white European settlers in the same category as the nasty imperialist countries. • The Arab nations never attacked Israel. Arab-Israeli wars “just broke” or Israel started. • The Arab countries want peace, but Israel does not. • Israel expelled all Palestinian refugees. • Israel put the Palestinians in refugee camps in Arab countries, not Arab governments. Questions asked by Dennis Ybarra, again, for the study. What was your method? We selected the 28 books which include all the major publishers and a smaller one which we believe cover all major U.S. public schools. Once you have acquired such, we did a survey of at least two school districts each “no” the adoption of state. (California adopts K-8 based on the rule.) Members for their approval had the list of approved textbooks. This confirmed that it had included all the most popular textbooks. Please tell us more? I have reviewed thousands of pages of textbooks. We also study additional materials and the development of professional teacher training. Textbooks under consideration including teachers, students, and advanced placement problems. We performed a detailed content analysis of materials for students, including student textbooks, websites and brochures and materials for teachers, including issues of teacher textbooks, curricula, lesson plans, materials teacher training, websites and more. The content analysis of textbooks focused on four thematic areas: • Jewish history, theology and religion • The relationship between Judaism and Christianity • The relationship between Judaism and Islam • The history, geography and And the policy of Middle Eastern schools San Francisco Bay Area and textbooks? I looked at what the books were in use in San Francisco Unified School District. In general, information about which books are used in multi-district primary, secondary and central region requires a long time if the information is not published on a website. You must determine the right person to communicate with the district curriculum is, call the person and hope he or she is in the office. Upon reaching the person, it is expected that cooperatives are (although, as a public institution should be transparent). For high school, San Francisco Unified McDougal Littell is uses modern world history: patterns of interaction, Traditions and Encounters by McCraw Hill, World Civilizations: Global Experience Pearson, all examined. There were other errors in the note to be included in textbooks? These can be of any textbooks, not just those used in San Francisco Bay Area. “Apart from the Old Testament is poetry, the Jews produced very little of note in a form of art …. No sign of any important [early] Jewish contributions to science.” (World Civilization, Thomson Wadsworth) We found that in many of the 28 textbooks, the following: 1. negative stereotypes of Jews appear in the textbooks. 2. Textbooks misrepresent the close relationship between Judaism, Christianity and Jesus. 3. textbook material of advocacy groups of Muslims glorify Islam with Judaism and Christianity is placed in the textbooks word for word from the editors compatible. The moral issue of fairness, impartiality and objectivity of the quality of the textbook is not dealt with much of this article. The media have offered the story in a context of fairness, moral attitude and the fact in relation to religious content. As a side note, this writer wants to add Dennis Ybarra researcher believes that textbook publishers can not be “deliberately creating errors, but they are responding to what they receive, often without much consideration and how it was delivered. The investigator said: “We have not talked to publishers as part of the investigation. Our objective was to identify problems. During my research I realized that publishing the guide is very close. “None of the major industry players were willing to publicly criticize the way they are written the textbooks, the textbook adoption process and its results are desirable, textbook or content. The exceptions to one or two sources were published by people who had left the area. “What the press said about the book so far? After the publication of The problem with textbooks and all the interviews I’ve done, the only comment I have seen or reaction from the U.S. publishers is an article Now by Greg Toppo December 1, 2008. His spokesman said that the publishers association in the same, carefully check your material for religion and its products have been corrected for all religions. Fox News religion correspondent Lauren Green clearly indicated in its March 7, 2009 report on bias in textbooks in Islam (I think) that publishers of all declined his offer of the opportunity to comment on the issues we have raised. Fox actually published the details of the main publishers recommend viewers to contact them and complain. I heard somewhere that, in response, publishers to stop the numbers and that no member of the public was able to get any live person on the line. Sure, it’s because publishers feel trapped in the victory of any situation, beaten by pressures from all sides. Among our main conclusions is that “bad books that publishers are not harmful, but can successfully navigate economic pressures, cultural policies and exercised by the content of their books.” [P. 154] Part Four: What others say, including quotes from the researchers in this study, published elsewhere in an article is particularly useful for researchers who are interviewed. The Jerusalem Post on September 25, 2008, says in its title, “U. S. textbooks misrepresent Jews and Israel.” These are excerpts from that article, written by Haviv Rettig Jerusalem Post GUR These quotes highlight the words delivered by the researchers published in the newspaper and include the late Gary Tobin: in the treatment of Judaism, too, the textbooks showed a negative trend, the study said. Often expressed view that “Jews and Judaism are legalistic” and that “Jews care only about the letter of the law and ignore its spirit,” the study found. The God of Israel was presented as “stern and warlike, and compassion, not as highlighted in other religions. In some cases, Jews were accused of deicide in the killing of Jesus The study also found that 18 textbooks used “derogatory and erudite” terminology of the Old Testament of the Jewish scriptures when discussing the origins of Judaism. ” The study compared the language used to describe the Jewish and Christian belief with that describing Muslim belief. “The textbooks tend to be critical of Jews and Israel, disrespectful of Christianity, and rather than represent Islam in an objective way, tend to glorify” said Ybarra. “Textbook publishers often defer completely to Muslim groups for its content [of Islam] because they want to be sensitive to Muslim concerns, “he said.” So they write that Mohammed is a prophet of God, without the qualifier you should have in a public school that sample are the teachings of the religion, rather than teaching religion. One example among many cited in the study is in World History: Continuity and Change, in which a glossary entry on the Ten Commandments describes them as “Moral laws Moses claimed to have received from God the Lord on Mount Sinai Jewish. The same glossary describes the Quran as a” Holy Book of Islam containing revelations received by Muhammad from God “- without a conditional qualifier.” Islam is treated with a devotional tone in some textbooks, less independent and analytical to be, “the study said.” Muslim beliefs are described in several instances as fact, without any clear classification as “Muslims believe ….’” No religion should be presented in history textbooks as absolute truth as such, or any other or all should be. “What others think about some job offers on the cover of the book and reads the approval date (),” The problem with textbooks is a very important book not only for Jews, but for the entire Christian community . This book is an excellent tool for anyone interested in balanced reporting that is fair and reliable information about Judaism, Christianity and Islam. “Rev. John J. It is important to know that the Muslim influence on the content of textbooks is very high, and is considered by Christians and Jews do not like the kind of representation of their views that the religious expression to correct their beliefs. Of course, judging by itself or as a parent, teacher or an academic. It is clear that teachers bring in additional material on subjects, often from home or investigation on behalf of a school. They do it with that provided by your school. Students in danger of extinction with the ignorance of basic beliefs. Perhaps not in the sense of crisis, but the writer agrees with researchers who were his mised. Certainly, Muslims have the right to their way of seeing things. A salient point and important, but not to the final again be mentioned as a moral question about the reasons for the press coverage of this story, which is the fairness and accuracy point of view, representation and religious belief and the fact as due to individual faith. THIS IS A DESCRIPTION OF THE INCIDENT AT MASSENA ACCORDING TO THE AMERICAN JEWISH HISTORICAL SOCIETY — QUITE SOMETHING! JOHN Massena is a quiet city in upstate New York. It sits beside the St. Lawrence River across the water from Canada. The Jewish population of Massena is small and supports one synagogue. Massena seems an unlikely location for a major event in American Jewish history, but it was. In 1928, a blood libel accusation against the 100 or so Jewish residents then living in Massena tore the city apart. Blood libels have been a part of Jewish history at least since 1144, when the Jews of England were accused of having purchased a Christian boy –the child martyr, William of Norwich—to torture and crucify him. At the heart of the blood libel is the charge that Jews murder Christian children to procure their blood, or more rarely their internal organs, to make matzoh at Passover. Geoffrey Chaucer, author of the Canterbury Tales, accused the “cursed Jewes” of infanticide in “The Prioress’s Tale.” The myth of Jewish ritual sacrifice persisted through the centuries and occasionally resonated on the fringes of American society, no place more openly and angrily than in Massena, New York. On erev Yom Kippur, 1928, the New York State police brought in Rabbi Berel Brennglass of Massena’s Orthodox congregation Adath Israel for questioning. Four-year-old Barbara Griffiths of Massena had disappeared and Albert Comnas, an immigrant from Salonika, Greece, charged that, as the …

Daniel Shalit

taken from a speech at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Faculty of Social Sciences, the Swiss Center for Conflict Research, Management and Resolution, marking two years for the withdrawal from the Gaza Strip (translated from Hebrew by Yaakov Macal )

In 1762, Jean-Jacques Rousseau wrote in his book “Emile, or Education:” It seems like we never know what they are saying until the Jews have a free state, schools and university will be able to speak freely and discuss issues safely. Only then can we know what to say. ”

Here we are today, in a free Jewish state, the Hebrew University. If Rousseau was in college today, would be more clear to him “what the Jews are talking about? Well, this is rather dubious, Jews themselves have undergone profound crisis and is not sure what you are saying, and moreover : about who they are.

***

In the Middle Ages, the image was very simple: it was neither a Jew or Christian or Muslim. The transition from one religion to another involves the conversion, metamorphosis, a complete change of identity. Only with the advent of European humanism, the Enlightenment and rationalism, it has become possible to be a Jew, than anything else, apparently wider: a pure man, a citizen, Ein Mensch. Jews use this new opening and penetrated the social fabric of French, German or English as citizens or Menschen. Many completely discarded his Jewish identity and became simply “Menschen” the local (German, French or English) varieties. In reality they have become so good at being what he wanted, almost started to teach the Germans themselves as better and more true Germans, the Germans did not particularly appreciate. The wave of European nationalism that followed, anti-Semitism (the term was invented at the time) and, of course, Nazism – led the Jews of his original Jewish identity, or should we say here: their fate Hebrew.

Meanwhile, Zionism has proposed an alternative: not to ignore the Jewish identity, but on the contrary, affirming and emphasizing it. However, it was a revolutionary new kind of Jewish identity, modeled along the lines then allowed: secular, national and modern. No more wandering Jews, practicing their old religion and daily prayer for divine redemption, but an active history, politics, accountability to return home, gathering from all over the world as a historic land as normal people.

This revolutionary alternative met strong objections from traditional religious communities, but eventually seemed to have won: the state of Israel was founded, fought for and defended throughout this vision. The State of Israel would be the final seal to the normalization of the Jewish people: one was normal, normal people, normal politics.

***

Where are we today? Israel is anything but normal. And “the only state in the world in danger of extinction. Unlike normal countries, are hypersensitive to moral rights, which shot him at an incredible speed. It tries desperately to act in accordance with international standards as moral saints only to discover he is still accused of being the world’s Goliath, a monstrous Nazi war criminal state.

Could it be, then, that the modern state, secular is so normal in a corner, traditionally reserved for Jews since biblical times the prophet Isaiah – the corner kept for the “despised and rejected, and acquainted with grief and pain, despised and unesteemed “- but this time globally? It is quite possible that the normal pressure was an impossibility? Could it be that the name of Israel, with all the historical and religious meaning could not be used to describe a new normal?

And just when normality is that the good fortune to find, anyway? It is the family of nations today as crazy, as abnormal as ever, maybe more, but equally troubled and desperate – perhaps desperate as Israel has taught the nations to seek: redemption, salvation, liberation ? Could it be that Israel itself could be the answer to the problem of man?

***

Meanwhile, not only Israel that has turned into doubts about his identity, the man lost consciousness and the meaning of his existence.

Outside the glorious science that man has developed, which appears as a speck of dust in an endless wilderness area from the point of view of biological – that it is a complex carbohydrate senseless According to the critical post- modern man is an illusion, a “text” or “narrative” of the 19th century white.

This is the postmodern Zeitgeist. A century ago, Zionism indicated its support for the then current ideas of nationality, modernity and progress. But today the same transport channel Western doubts, uncertainty, and in fact – nihilism. The type of identity of these channels have to offer is really a non-identity, as the post-modern erodes all identities, including the man’s identity.

This is why Jean-Jacques Rousseau are still quite uncertain as to what the Jews have to say. The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Israeli government press and also the “art – all so normal, Western, post-modern – the only Jewish identity leads a hidden life, a life Somewhere Back In unconscious suppressed.

Rousseau may hasten his return to the 18th century in France, because if they stayed longer at the Hebrew University also become postmodern doubts about who he is.

But before doing so, being now in the Middle East, perhaps you should make a visit to some of the settlements in Judea-Samaria. Maybe they took the Jewish consciousness in Israel. Perhaps it would come to understand something of Jewish identity, and perhaps also on the man’s identity.

Israeli settlements in the West Bank are perhaps the least understood places on earth. For people affected by the media, are associated with serious injustice (the Palestinians), the ruthless oppression (of Israel), with uncontrollable greed for land (settlers) and are close to racism, apartheid, ethnic cleansing, hatred, and the style of the decent people should keep their distance.

Seldom is heard a word in defense of these places or people that live there. Who am I? Why did they go? What you say in your defense?

***

The areas in which they called the colonists settled in the Wikipedia as “the Palestinian territories, in all languages other than Hebrew. In Hebrew Wikipedia, however, they are called” Judea and Samaria. “That pretty much says it all. The Arabs feel a foreign body that has invaded their territory, where they lived for generations. But a foreign invader is denied his being abroad, says he just returned home four thousand years. For him The “Palestinians” are the newcomers the field, in fact, the invaders of their origin or infiltrated Saudi Arabia. For him, the “Palestinian territories” are at the heart of the Land of Israel, including cities such as Bethlehem, Beit -El, Jericho, Shekhem, the City of David Jerusalem was the way to the patriarchs Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, were the scene of two Jewish kingdoms and temples for two thousand years, and later, through two thousand years Jews forced into exile, have been the subject of constant desire and prayer – to return to Zion.

In summary, these mountains were, and remain the backbone of Jewish identity. Without them, Tel Aviv has no meaning or justification, and Israel is in fact a colonizing power. With them, Israel is not colonization, but back home.

***

Three objections may be raised against this argument:

1. Come to deny the rights of people living here and now – the simple story, on behalf of the things that occurred thousands of years ago?

2. Who says so long, its identity remains the same? It has not changed significantly over the past millennia?

3. Why insist on the territories at all? Have not we suffered enough of this requirement of the animals ‘territorial’? We have super attacks sometimes miserable land?

These three objections took power in our post-modern era. I question the validity of the story, the reality of the identity and uniqueness of the place.

Therefore worth a closer look in our time.

Postmodernism is not just a fad and not just a fad, first, is the current state of our civilization: science, technology, economy and society but also the “spirit of the times (Zeitgeist) , which dominates the intellectual world as art, literature and popular culture.

This Central Zeitgeist dismantles all traditional structures, such as nation and family, authority and hierarchy, all the traditional values (goodness, truth and beauty) and general orientation (center versus periphery, the irrelevance compared to the relevance , serious vs. trivial, superficial vs deep).

Post-modernism has a corrosive effect, not only in Jewish-Israeli perspective, but in Western civilization. If you somehow can recreate the world of human values, is to benefit humanity.

Time and place are related. Intuitively, we perceive time as “What you need to travel a certain distance.”

Now, in the global village and the time and space have almost disappeared. In cyberspace there are practically no space / time is involved, geographical distance is irrelevant, the connections are instantaneous.

What is happening in technology is based on post-modern thought. Traditionally, the place and time were not only abstract dimensions, but with a real structure: the structure must have a center against the periphery of surface versus depth and height. These physical dimensions had their mental correlations: average historical importance, the suburbs means insignificant, irrelevant. Area superficial meaning, depth and height of meaning and significance of import. Now, postmodernism rejects both physical and spiritual distinction.

And there is some truth in this. Indeed, who can deny that the universe is now conceived as infinite in the universe – the center, height, depth, etc are only relative to the observer. Our big cities have the same structure does not: they had their old historical center with the church, the market and the city – which marks the center of mass, and – and around him in ever-widening circles – periphery periphery, while postmodernity-mega-cities are a conglomeration of suburbs, no center, or at most polycentric. Another example is the Web, without modification or regulation center. Post-modernism takes these examples to be good parables no structure of reality and consciousness: there is no central point of view or the truth: there are only views.

This seems to be heralding a new era of openness and tolerance (and in fact is a step forward from the narrow-mindedness and ego-centrism and ethno-). But this total openness means that there is no truth at all, nothing is important or trivial, high or low, deep or superficial. Everything is important and the trivial, profound, superficial, and nothing really matters.

So perhaps a new form that serves to restore our relationship with the truth, value and meaning. It may be the parables of the physical space of the megalopolis and the web are not sufficient to describe the size – vital, mental, spiritual – in which man acts, which is a microcosm.

Meanwhile, until they found new ways, Western culture, the dominant culture of our time, acts without guidelines, without structure.

***

So much deconstruction of space and its conceptual parallel.

Time, too, loses its structure, both in practice and thought. In the post-modern thought, and contrary to the ancient concept of progress, the story is not going anywhere. In addition, there is no history “truth.” The story is a kaleidoscope of stories.

It follows the erosion of local identities. In any case, MacDonald is the same everywhere, even technical production and sales are standardized. local cultures were wiped out and the maximum offering the attractions of the World Trade Center (exotic foods, ethnic music, authentic bars, trattorias people). The malls are the same, the work is the same, and all individuals are dissolved in an undifferentiated mass.

Once again, confirms the theory of practice: when space and time lose their value, the identity used to define itself through time and history, is also eroded.

Once again, the loss of identity is presented as a step forward, almost like a rescue: no difference, no more borders: borders dissolve, and all cultures, all races, all classes are close together other and embrace “the sympathy and understanding, harmony and trust abounding” (“The Age of Aquarius” from “Hair”).

But this is a sweet illusion. Love is only between complementary opposites. Aqueous non-identity can not fertility, but to escalate into an inert mass.

***

And as mentioned before, is not merely personal or cultural identity that have been degraded. The man’s identity, its own design, has been canceled. In fact, man has been denied.

The entire Western culture was built by and for self-determination, autonomous subject. The free man or a free woman remains at the center and foundation of democracy. Now, while these values are still highly praised, in fact they are depreciated and devalued. The man refused, in both practice and theory.

As an employee, which is the mechanism of impotence involved in a global business can not understand, and that erodes his humanity. As a client, is tempted and forced to eat what is not necessary, while the machine will use all means of persuasion, above or below the navel, to deceive him, in effect, and their demands are making form and re-engineering. As a political entity is treated as a man of public relations professionals with contempt, as a particle of a crowd, crowd or faceless mass to be manipulated, deceived and forced.

At the top, we find leaders – businessmen, political leaders, media celebrities and art. They collect all the glory of leadership and decision making. But in reality, they are also forced by circumstances incomprehensible, slaves to the demands of the race, competition and image. They have never had the time or peace of mind to find your inner truth, busy accumulating fame, money or power, they have no humanity as the last of the crowd.

So much for the denial of man, in practice now in theory.

From the scientific point of view, man does not deserve much dignity: not only his home on planet Earth, but the entire solar system is somewhere in a small tail in the Milky Way, which in turn is only a billion galaxies out of a heat stroke to a senseless death insignificant. In this small planet, man is only if certain chemicals, which somehow survived, but is currently under the direction of suicide. Que se vayan insects and microorganisms that survive and not lose much.

From the perspective of postmodernism, “” Man with a capital, or the topic in philosophical language, is nothing but an invention “subject”, a “narrative” of Western culture, a “text” to be deconstructed and exposed. In any case, has never been anything but the arrogance of this curious species and its goal of dominating the existence unjustifiable all animate and inanimate.

So much for the denial of man, the man stripped of all dignity and identity, both in practice and theory.

***

Somehow, despite everything, survives as a need for identity, in man, gnawing at him.

The post-modern recognizes this need and addresses, in a special way. Provides illusory and empty, outward-looking identity: a winner, a celebrity, a success “minor roles” people are offered the smallest: a consumer label, a fan club member.

***

Another way is through the identification of hate: I do not know who we are, but we know we do not like. I hate, therefore I am. (This is the reality against the dream of Universal Love).

Identity through hatred is not a new invention: the hatred always helped strengthen the identity and mobilize the masses. But today, as are the natural decline of identities, the role of increases hatred. Two of Orwell “Minutes Hate” in his novel “1984″ represented the role of hatred in dictatorships. But today it seems that not only in dictatorships but also democracies – free, tolerant, open and friendly, otherwise people may need a devil to define themselves against. This time, the hate is not invoked by a foreign tyrant deliberate: it is rather a necessity from the interior, individual or collective unconscious, projecting deep inner fears and guilt of an individual or group outside which makes the “totally other.” Since it is not forced from without but from within asked, is much more difficult to diagnose and treat. People who do not readily admit demonization practice, since this was his way of self-cleaning. Why they are informed, drawing cartoons were “totally other” mirror can be projected onto themselves. They may feel that they are being demonized, and strongly rejected the accusation. (So do not insist, but only slightly suggest that these processes can be deep, the roots of international demonization of Israel and “settlements”).

***

The denial of human values, erosion of values, and the parallel increase of hatred and demonization of the West to create a culture of toxic substances. His past achievements can not be denied: the free man creativity in science, technology, social and political thought, and the arts. But somehow these results upon themselves to poison the life of Western man.

Islam reacts strongly to this toxicity of Western culture, the loss of traditional values, the breakdown of traditional family and the traditional system of authority.

The remedy offered is the discipline of religion – complete submission to God. In the West, Islam diagnosis too much freedom. Islamic thinkers (Maududi, Sayyid Qutb) see the centrality of man in the West as the source of all evil, Western culture is called “New jahili” which means the new paganism.

However, the only remedy for Islam knows the situation – the war – or destruction.

In reality we are witnessing a clash of two opposing civilizations on the basis of two opposing principles: the autonomy of man, without reserve, absolute and complete – as opposed to absolute submission, total man God. total openness, tolerance, contains – against the divine and absolute power.

Both principles are derived from Judaism, which, despite the creative tension between them, ultimately, have to coexist in peace and fertility. Each culture has a role of Judaism, without recognizing their original and creative unifying force. When facing crises now have more access to the source of life that allows the renewal, but are forced to return to some kind of conservatism – the outer layer of religious enthusiasm at a time.

What man would not now have to go back, but a step forward, a new source and foundation.

First, no settlers “/” for writing messages. “The settlers” are not a separate tribe. Each has many relatives and supporters throughout Israel. The settlements are only a concise expression of Jewish identity, true to its history and places of definition. (And the Arab media know this, that all the cities they call Israeli “settlements” for them, all Israel is a large illegal settlement).

***

Jewish identity is not easy to maintain.

It is a fact: it is a choice. It is necessary to choose, rediscovered and won in every new historical circumstances;

It may be lost for a while “no, refused, minimize, remove or hidden, is always the test.

But in every generation there is a nucleus or group that supports him fully as possible at that time.

Today I believe that the settlements that take place in full: the life of Torah and modern life, devotion to the ideals and achievements, Tradition and renewal.

***

What is the highlight of the settlements now Hebrew is the message for our time:

There is hope for humanity. And it’s possible to mediate between human freedom and autonomy on the one hand, and service to God, on the other.

Judaism does not accept autonomy, human dignity, freedom and creativity. All these are possible human remains of the image of God in Judaism was made, through Christianity, which laid the foundation of humanism in the West (it is true that classical Greece, the other pillar of the West, did establish Indeed, the centrality of man, but not the value or hope that man is essentially a tragic being), then were the Jews who developed these qualities and used them to catalyze liberalism everywhere.

On the other hand, Jews testifies man standing before God, this is not only obedience, submission and service, but includes the full range of love and fear, fascination and fear, intimacy and distance .

***

The paradox of Judaism – the human paradox – branched into two different civilizations. How the autonomy of man and submit to reconcile?

abstract formulas will not take us very far. The balance of freedom of presentation has to be lived, fought and suffered for. This requires some specific life of the company for a long time in history, focusing on a specific geographical scene.

In the true tradition of Israel, the society in which the human drama has been and is issued, is the people of Israel, the story is the story of Israel, the place is the land of Israel. .

Settlements that

History is not just a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. The story is of importance and significance. This is a process of trial and appeal. Nothing is lost. You can not “say” if you want: you can do wrong, lie or to seek the truth of history.

Place is not just territory, an abstract place. Place breathes life. The sites are fraught with meaning and spiritual potential. Instead, much more material, test and implement our inner life. Man is responsible for the space: it responds to its potential. Invest with care and creativity, culture and holiness – or degraded by irresponsible and wrong.

Identity is not only a sum of outward signs or differences. Interior is a unifying force. It is a vision of leadership. Through its apparent limits of the Infinite can be perceived.

***

Again, the identity of Israel is not easy to achieve. This is a summary of humanism and religion, innovation and tradition, technology and ecology, individuality and community, nationality and universality. For this work to be done, we need our own laboratory, which is the Land of Israel – and time. If we have time and credit, undisturbed by the constant threat of war, destruction and extermination, but we can not guarantee anything, but at least May we resume our work, which is only for the good of the human family.

A video we shot around town on a digital camera. www.trapbyall.com OFFICIAL SITE Taken from Wikipedia Originally owned by the early LA Boyle-Workman family, the district was subdivided in 1875 and named after Andrew Boyle. Traditionally one of the most heterogeneous neighborhoods in the city, it was a center of Jewish, Mexican and Japanese immigrant life in the early 20th century, and also hosted large Yugoslav and Russian populations. Canter’s Deli, one of Los Angeles’ culinary landmarks and a beloved fixture in the city’s Jewish community, was originally located in Boyle Heights before it followed its customer base to the Fairfax District in the 1940s. However, during and after World War II, most of its non-Latino population left for Mid-Wilshire, the San Gabriel and San Fernando valleys, and the West Side. Boyle Heights’ Japanese population was interned in relocation camps such as Manzanar during World War II and did not return after the war. This evolution is evidenced, among many other ways, by the name of the district’s main drag: once Brooklyn Avenue, it was rechristened Cesar E. Chavez Avenue in 1994. ]Breed Street Shul Breed Street Shul, 2008 Opened in 1923, the Breed Street Shul, located at 247 North Breed Street, was one of the oldest synagogues on West Coast of the United States. Boyle Heights was a predominantly Jewish community for many years, but slowly the demographic changed to a large Latino community, and the synagogue steadily lost congregation members …

If you’re in New York, one of the objectives which will certainly be top of the must visit list is none other than Central Park. Opened in 1859, Central Park covers 843 hectares and 341 hectares of space through the heart of Manhattan in New York.

About 25 million people visit the park every year and after a few minutes walk through it you can begin to realize why.

Central Park was designed by Frederick Law Olmstead, a famous landscape architect of the 19th century. While Central Park may seem natural in the design, the truth is that most of the same Olmstead landscape, including lakes and ponds of the park.

Today Central Park is popular with runners and walkers who want to explore a little “fresh air in downtown Manhattan. The park is also home to two tracks, one of which is a swimming pool in July and August in summer many ways, Central Park Zoo and Conservatory Garden, a nature reserve, an athletics track and outdoor theater.

Visiting New York, no doubt you want to be near Central Park to enjoy its beautiful scenery and wonderful walking opportunities.

Fortunately, there are several hotels located near Central Park, is within walking distance. Central Park is easy to explore some of the most popular areas near New York.

The Upper West Side for example, west of Central Park is located just above and below Midtown Morningside Heights is a great place to spend a day of sightseeing. Some of the most popular attractions in this area include the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the Metropolitan Opera House, the American Museum of Natural History and the New York Historical Society.

Book a hostel in this area will give you easy access to all these destinations, many within walking distance of each other. Of course, if you choose to stay in a different part of New York, the West Side is easily accessible by subway.

On the other side of Central Park, the Upper East Side is home to places like the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York Jewish Museum and the Guggenheim Museum.

The area is a bit more residential Upper West Side, even though there are still many hotels available.

Decide which side of Central Park to stay in can be a difficult decision, but regardless of where you want your luxury hotel in New York are guaranteed to be there many attractions at your fingertips and all other just a train trip passes .
